Edith Backus shares her dream of a downtown club for college-educated women with a group of her Seattle friends.
1914
Fourteen women (known as "The Founders" of the Women's University Club of Seattle) apply to the State of Washington for permission to incorporate.
1915
The Board of Trustees leases a small clubhouse for 5 years with a monthly rent of $150.
1917
Each member of the Club donates one book to the newly established Wellesley Library.
Members organize a Red Cross Auxiliary and 12 members serve overseas with the American Red Cross.
1919
A Building Committee looks toward future space requirements.
